Childhood Memories with Making Memories

Here's two of the layouts I've done so far with my Scrapalicious DT kit for June/July. This month I was given a MM page kit from the new Funky Vintage line. I received the "Ruby" line (again funny since that's my mom's name!!). The kit contains some papers, some stickers and some epoxy letters. In addition to the MM page kit I was given a 12 x 12 Fancy Pants chipboard sheet.

On the first layout I did a blocked design. I thought this was a good way to combine all the papers without them being too distracting. The papers and epoxy buttons are from the MM page kit and I added a section of the new MM flocked paper. The title is a Creative Imaginations rubon and eyes is cut out of QK Blossom font.
I really LOVE how my second layout turned out. I found this gem of a photo while I was scanning in some slides from my childhood. I had to do a lot of touch up and turn it black and white bc the colours were really distracting (think 70s velvet sofa LOL!). I covered the flower from the chipboard sheet with blue polka dot paper (also MM but not included in the kit) and mounted on a sheet of fuchsia polka dot paper (MM also not in the kit). I painted the "live, laugh, love" cutouts with beige and brown paint and used paper glaze to make them shiny. The papers in the circle and the cut out flowers are all from the kit. MM mini letters for journalling.

Taking the Scenic Route

I've been busy playing with my Scraptivity June kit. It's the first time I've actually worked with the kit the same month I got it in quite a while!! The papers in the kit are just perfect for some of my vacation photos. I'm loving the orange and blues together.

So far I've finished one single page layout, several cards and a double page spread. I also don't scrap a whole lot with multiple 4 x 6 photos but I managed to squeeze SIX of them on one double page spread. The design is fairly simple but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

The mother of all thift store finds!!

I don't usually shop at thrift shops that much but I have been on the lookout for some old cassette tape holders (remember those!!) to use as ink pad storage.

Well today on a whim I popped into the Salvation Army and hit the jackpot.....I got this awesome solid wood cassette holder for $2.58!!!! Seriously I am giddy with excitement. I think I might paint it white and add some patterned papers to the side to alter it a bit.

I've seen similar units being sold as ink pad storage for up to $80 U.S. Those are some of my Staz On inks in there to give you an idea of what it looks like.

So my advice for the day.....check your thrift shops, you'll never know what you might find!!
In other news today.....I'm off to chop my hair off!!

June DT kit sneak peek.....

I got this fabulous kit to work with this month......creations coming soon!!

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine

We had a little mini crop at Scrapalicious last night with Virginia and the DT. I did work on a few more fishy cards and got some photos ready for my Scraptivity kit from June.

When I got home I pulled this layout together. I think I'm using those little letter stickers on EVERYTHING these days LOL!. All supplies are from the Scraptivity June kit (Scenic Route papers, chipboard) except I added the EK letter stickers and a Hambly overlay. The letters were cut with QK Studio font out of fun foam to make my own "thickers".

Thanks to the girls for your design help with this craft paper and layout advise. This is my second song inspired layout in the last little while :).

Keeping with the theme of fishes.....

I just finished a few of these cards to keep on hand.

The embossed background was made using some old slab paper and the Cuttlebug embossing plate. I chalked *gasp* the background to give more definition and inked the edges. The seaweed is cut out of mulberry paper. The fishies are a cuttlebug die cut out of felt. The strips of paper are from the Scenic Route Metropolis line.

The arrow stamps are from the Scraptivity June kit (made by Tin Box creations). Best fishes stamp from stampendous (I think).

Me-Sa wanna buy some fish!

Things have been really busy these days. I've been playing tennis a few nights a week and keeping up on the gardening. I've also joined facebook and have been spending time over there catching up with old friends.

Now I'm going to steal the thunder off DH's blog. As we're driving to tennis one night we notice a new mascot advertising "Thank Cod fish and chips". I think the mascot bears a striking resemblance to Jar Jar Binks from Star Wars! So of course I came up with the line " "Me-Sa wanna buy some fish". B thinks it a great quote :) .

So of course the next time we went to tennis I made B take a picture as we drove by :)
