A new Cuttlebug challenge blog to share

I recently discovered a Cuttlebug challenge blog and thought I'd share the link with you.

Card a day Kissable Tree

This is a card I created for today's sketch at the Card Sketch A Day blog. I used the Kim Hughes Kissable Tree stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms. As you can see I “kissed” the stamp in black ink using the small houndstooth Scrapblock (also CHF).

Then to pull the whole card together I also used the houndstooth Scrapblock on the bottom dark green paper. The finished card is 9 x 4" and can fit in a regular business envelope.

As soon as I saw this stamp, I knew I had to pair it up with one of my all time favourite paper lines....Cosmo Cricket Wanted.

Clearly, Christmas is on it's way!

The Joyeux Noel stamp set from Cornish Heritage Farms is just perfect for creating holiday cards and just happens to be in the product spotlight until November 27th! You can purchase this set ON SALE for $9.99 (regular $14.99).

I decided to create a clear card with the snowflakes from the set. I'll show you three different views of the card so you can see all the layers which are really hard to photograph in low light and against a white background.

I stamped the snowflakes in white Staz On onto a clear card base from Sheetload Shortcuts. I added some burgundy stickles to the points of the snowflakes. Then I created a card inside the card using some Basic Grey Wassail and a large Cuttlebug Snowflake. When you see the card standing up you can see all the layering and it looks really unique (which doesn't show up well in the photo GRRRRRR!!!).

Feeling Primitive

This is a really stampy card (e.g. only coloured paper and stamps) I created with the Rummage Bin Primitive individual images. I used the CHF Woodgrain backgrounder for the card base and then stamped around the outside with the blanket edge stamp from the CHF Rummage Bin Primitive Christmas set.

To finish off the card I added some Flower Soft to the willow tree. I just LOVE this stuff (even though I’m hopelessly messy with it!).

While we’re on the wedding/love theme.....

Here’s another simple but elegant wedding card I made using some old Die Cuts with a View papers.

One good way to “use up” those older papers in your stash is to stamp on them with backgrounder type stamps to give them a fresh look! On this card I stamped with the CHF French Script backgrounder onto one of the lighter patterned papers. Then I used a die cut tag to stamp (and heat emboss) my sentiment.

Here’s the second card I created with the K and Co Smitten supplies I rediscovered in my stash.

On this card I layered a bunch of word stamps from various sets to create my own custom sentiment. If you have a lot of different sentiment or word stamps, don’t be afraid to use multiple ones a the same time to create your own unique sentiments.

Happy for you

I was reorganizing my ever growing stash a few weeks back and came across my forgotten bag of K and Co Smitten papers and embellishments. This is one of two cards that I created with these gorgeous papers and embellishments.

I used the CHF Rummage Bin So Happy set as my focal point on the card and heat embossed it. I think this would make a nice engagement card.

I’ll post the matching card tomorrow (got to spread out those blog posts LOL!)

More SEP vintage butterflies

As I mentioned in my last post, I just couldn't put these new Saturday Evening Post Vintage Butterfly stamps down when I received them. This is another card I did with them last week.

I used a piece of Making Memories die cut papers from the Paperie journalling book and stamped on it with the butterflies and sentiment. I mounted it on a piece of embossed brown paper and sanded to distress. Then I finished it off with my new obsession: Bazzill pom pom trim and some distress stickles.

Saturday Evening Post Vintage Butterfly Release Day

When I received these Saturday Evening Post Vintage Butterfly stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms I could not put them down. I'm usually a hopelessly slow paper crafter but with these stamps I created a TON of projects in one sitting.

I.LOVE.THESE.STAMPS!! There are so many different butterflies on the set as well as many wonderful sentiments. Really you need to run on over and put these in your cart!!

Technique: Brayered sky, layering of stamps

Instructions:

1. Stamp French Script backgrounder stamp onto glossy cardstock using Staz On ink. Note: I used a fading technique by applying ink darker in the top right corner and fading out over the stamp.

2. Create brayered background using Kaleidacolor pad with darker shade to the left of the cardstock

3. Stamp butterflies in black ink diagonally across center of card. Stamp sentiment in bottom right corner.

4. Heat set to ensure ink is completely dry and attach to card base.

Note: the card is a standard A2 size. I trimmed the glossy cardstock design to 5 x 3 ¾" before adhering to card base .

Happy Wedding Day

This is a wedding card I created using the new Fiery Floral Scrapblock and Mona Lisa Wedding Centers (released today) from Cornish Heritage Farms.

The Fiery Floral Scrapblock (stamped on entire top of the card) is sooooo beautiful! For this card I heat embossed the scrapblock in brown embossing powder).

I used some distress ink and the new distress stickles on the KI lace cardstock on the bottom of the card.

CHF Layout sketch challenge Wednesday

This week's scrapbook layout sketch at Cornish Heritage Farms was created by the talented Lesley Langdon.

This is my interpretation of the sketch. I created my own background papers using two different Scrapblocks on some of the plain Basic Grey papers from the Urban Prairie collection. I used the Fiery Floral Scrapblock on the white background paper (stamped in light pink ink) and the Pin Dot Scrapblock on the pink background paper (stamped in dark pink ink).


I don't know about you but I often don't think to use all those plain distressed papers that come in my Basic Grey packages. These scrapblocks are an awesome way to maximize the use of your supplies since you can create your own custom papers with just some ink and some creativity!! The possibilities are endless.

I hand cut the butterfly and flourish designs out of the patterned paper and added them to my background. I finished off the layout with LOTS of Stickles and my new obsession.....Bazzill pom pom trim.

So Sketchy breast cancer card

Here's a card I did based on today's card sketch at So Sketchy.

The cancer poem and ribbon stamps are both from Cornish Heritage Farms. I find this poem so touching and it was the inspiration for this card.

CHF Challenge Chicks Monday

Today the Cornish Heritage Farms design team was challenged to create a gift item....just in time for the Christmas season.

This is a necklace I created for the challenge by stamping on a premade necklace from a discount store. I stamped the new Saturday Evening Post butterflies (available Nov. 14th) onto the shell and heat embossing. I love the contrast of the black with the orange.

I'm baaaaaaack! A wooly sheep card

I'm finally back in the swing of life after fighting a cold for the past week or so (thank you sick co-workers LOL!)

Here's a card I did a while ago using the individual images from the Rummage Bin Primitive collection from Cornish Heritage Farms. The willow tree and sheep image can be purchased individually or as part of a set.

I stamped the sheep into white paper and then glued some pom poms to the little guy.

Another busy busy week on the farm!

This week there are TONS of new stamps available from Cornish Heritage Farms.

There is a new circuit backgrounder stamp, a new fiery floral scrapblock and two new Kim Hughes releases (a wedding set and a birds and bees set). And there also is the new Christmas stamp of the month for November. There will also be a new Sandra Kuck stamp available tomorrow.

Sorry for the lack of blog posts but I've been feeling under the weather the last week with a dreaded cold and haven't felt like "power" blogging in my free time.
