Mugshot Monday.....aka where the heck did a year go???

One year ago today, we welcomed our little bundle of joy to our family.  I can't believe how quickly this year has gone and how far behind I already am with her scrapbook ;)  The photo on the left was taken when she was just hours old and the photo on the right was taken yesterday, one day before her first birthday.

We love you our sweet little Alyssa :)

I'll be back shortly with something crafty for you...thanks for stopping by!!

It's a bird themed FWF Friday!

Man, I'm such a slacker with the blog these days...I actually have tons of projects to share but just haven't had time to sit down and blog them all.

So to make up for it, I'll share TWO cards that I made using some Unity Stamps.  Both are bird themed cards that I made as part of the Unity WCMD challenges on Splitcoaststampers

For this first card, I took a large manila tag and sprayed it with some blue and green Tattered Angels mists.  Then I stamped the bird cage and sentiment in black and masked it off to stamp the birds in teal.  The tag was mounted onto a card base that I embossed with my Cuttlebug.  It's a little bit shabby with a hint of sparkle and I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

Stamps: Donna Downey "Free to Be" set (birdcage) by Unity Stamp Co, Melody Ross "Brave Girl" set (birds and sentiment) by Unity Stamp Co.
Ink: Staz On black, Tattered Angels spray mist, Staz On Teal
Papers: DCWV black cardstock (with white core), Manilla tag (office supply)
Accessories: Cuttlebug embossing folder, Offray ribbon, Dimensional tape

This second card was really quick and easy.  I simply stamped the sentiment and birdcage onto some patterned papers and then added some embellishments.  The bird was stamped onto some white cardstock and then cut out before attaching.

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

Stamps: Donna Downey "Free to Be" set (bird and birdcage) by Unity Stamp Co., September KOTM (sentiment) by Unity Stamp Co.
Ink: Staz On black, Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers: Making Memories
Accessories: Pins, Offray Ribbon, buttons and flowers (General craft supplies)

Unity Friends with Flair Friday is here and.....She is

Welcome to Unity's FWF Friday!!  This week I'm going to share a card that I made as part of Unity's World Card Making Day challenges.  This is the card I created for the "Shimmer and Shine" challenge.

This card is a little different for me.  I'm typically a cute-sy/clean type card maker so this grungy/artsy look is a bit outside my comfort zone!!  I created my own background paper using some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists on watercolour paper (pink tones with a light mist of teal blue).   Then I used the image and sentiments from the  Donna Downey "She is" set from Unity Stamps Co.

To really bling-i-fy my card I added some highlights to the image with Stickles and added a bling swirl.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Stamps: Donna Downey "She" set by Unity Stamp Co.
Ink: Tattered Angels mists (teal and pinks), Staz On black
Paper: Watercolour paper, K and Co paper
Accessories: bling and flower by Prima, Stickles

I made the coolest shaker card (if I do say so myself LOL!)

I've been playing along with some World Card Making Day challenges at Splitcoaststampers (for Unity Stamps) and one of them was to make a shaker card.

It's been a LONG time since I've done a shaker card, so I was racking my brain to come up with something.... and then the light went on....I thought why not make a shaker card using salt and pepper shakers?  I was thinking of putting actual salt and pepper in the shaker part but I didn't think it would be thick enough to stay in the card so I opted for some faux snow instead.

So here's a look at my finished card.  I used my new Itty Bitty stamp from Unity and paired it with papers from American Crafts. I must say that it turned out way better than I envisioned!!

Stamps: Itty Bitty What's Shakin' by Unity Stamp Co.
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers: American Crafts, October Afternoon
Accessories: Faux Snow, Offray ribbon, button, transparency, foam tape

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's the Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, and I have a few Fall/Thanksgiving cards to share.

The first card I'm sharing today is a photo card.  I've never done a photo card before but I *love* the way it turned out!!  I used some Unity Stamps and Basic Grey fall papers with a photo of my daughter at the pumpkin patch.  I stamped the sentiment directly on the photo using Staz On ink.  This card will definitely be sent out to Nana :)

Stamps: September KOTM from Unity Stamps (Pumpkins), sentiment from unknown Unity set
Papers: Basic Grey, Bazzill
Ink: Staz On Timber Brown, Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Photo, Offray ribbon, wood button, Copic Markers

This second card is a mini card (4 1/4" x 4 1/4") that I did using paper piecing and some more stamps from Unity.  In keeping with the fall look, I used some raffia and a wood button:

Stamps: Simple Blessings by Unity Stamp Co.
Ink: Staz On Rusty Brown, Staz On Timber Brown
Papers: Cosmo Cricket, Bazzill
Accessories: Wood button, raffia

Have the happiest of days with the last of the MFT Teasers!

It's the final day of the My Favorite Things Teasers and today I'm sharing the new "Happy Thoughts" sentiment set with you.  There are LOTS of awesome "happy" related sentiments on this set that can be used for all kinds of occasions.

I chose to use my Pure Innocence Birthday Princess image to use with one of the sentiments.  I've been hoarding some papers from The Girls Paperie for a while so I thought they would be just perfect with this stamp.

Don't forget that the release party is TONIGHT from 8 pm to 10 pm at Splitcoaststampers and be sure to stop by Kim's blog at 11 am today for the rest of the teasers from the design team.

Thanks for letting me share again this month!! I know I'll be first in line to buy some of the other new releases when they go live ;)

Stamps:  Pure Innocence Birthday Princess from My Favorite Things stamps,  Happy Thoughts sentiment set from My Favorite Things (available tonight)

It's MFT Teaser day!! Introducing Jolinne "I'm Sorry"

As you may remember, I was the guest designer last month for My Favorite Things stamps.  Well, in my package I also received a few sets from this month's release and I was asked if I'd like to participate in the Teasers for the sets---of course I jumped at the chance.
Today, I'm teasing you with the new Jolinne "I'm Sorry" set.  She comes with two different sentiment sets and one cute image!!
Before I share my project, here are a few more details about this month's upcoming release:

A treat for you (a box that is!!)

Did you know that My Favorite Things has a great selection of digital products including files/templates that can be cut on  your electronic cutter (or printed and cut out by hand if you don't have a cutter)?  Well they do and I was lucky enough to play with the new pumpkin treat box template.  The templates are inexpensive and very easy to use.

I cut the components on my Silhouette using some Bazzill cardstock (TIP:  I usually cut over the image twice with the thicker textured cardstock to cut all the way through).  After assembly I added some ink to define the box and added a giant ribbon accent on the top.  I added a tag to the lid of the box which could easily be personalized if desired.

One other idea I had was to create a box for each person for Thanksgiving dinner and add their name to the front.  You could fill each box with some treats for them to take home.  I don't recommend sending any turkey home in the boxes as there is no waterproof lining LOL!!

Here's the finished box and a few closeups:

Ink:  Dried Marigold Distress Ink by Ranger
Papers:  Bazzill cardstock, October Afternoon paper
Accessories:  Ric rac, Offray ribbon, 3D Halloween stickers
