Cardabilities Sept 30th reveal day!!

It's the end of September and it's time for my final Cardabilities reveal (wow, did those two terms ever go fast!!).  I'll be returning to work (after my maternity leave) in less than a month *sniff sniff* and need some time to adjust to the new routine before committing to any further design team work.

This is my take on Sketch #12.  I used my Bessie Lulu stamp (from Stamping Bella) and coloured her with my Copics.  I matched up the colours with some papers from October Afternoon Thrift shop collection and some ribbon from Michaels.  Instead of a stamped sentiment, I used a metal charm from my stash.

This little cutie is the reason I haven't been posting much on my blog.  Alyssa is now 11 months old and keeping me very busy!!

Feeling a little festive with my Cardabilities Sept 15th reveal

It's time for another Cardabilities sketch blog reveal (sketch #11) and this time I decided to think ahead a little and do a festive Holiday card.

The gingerbread image is a digital stamp from Whimsy Doodles.  The image was printed onto Georgia Pacific cardstock (I buy it in the States at Walmart and it works great for digi images and card bases!!) and coloured with my Copics.  I added a bit of Stickles for bling and then used papers from American Crafts.

Unity Friends with Flair Friday with some gradient stamping cards

Hello and welcome to Unity's Friends with Flair Friday again!!  Here are a couple of cards I created using my interpretation of "gradient stamping: (and yes, these were created for a recent publication call but got no love LOL!).

For the first card, I created my own gradient background out of distress ink. 

Instructions:  Swipe distress ink pads across white cardstock and blend using paint brush. Stamp image and heat emboss with black powder. Trim and mat onto black cardstock. Add black letter stickers. Adhere to white textured cardstock base.

Supplies:

Stamps: June 2010 Kit of the Month (Fly Free) by Unity Stamps
Ink: Ranger Distress Inks: Barn Door, Dried Marigold, Mustard Seed, Versamark for heat embossing
Paper: DCWV textured white cardstock base, Gina K white cardstock, Gina K black cardstock
Accessories: Kaisercraft black and white mini letters, Ranger black detailed embossing powder

For the second card I created a rainbow effect using all different colours of distress ink.

Instructions: Stamp scallop image in all the colours of the rainbow onto white cardstock. Cut out and adhere over top of each other and adhere to white cardstock base. Add strip of black cardstock at bottom of scallops. Stamp rainbows in black ink onto white cardstock, colour with Copic markers, cut out and adhere to card base. Stamp sentiment in black ink onto bottom right corner of card.

Ink: Ranger Distress Inks (colors to be provided upon acceptance), Memento Tuxedo black

And while we're on the kraft and white kick.....

Here's another quick and easy kraft and white design that I created last week using one of the fabulous Noteblock stamps from Purple Onion Designs.

Instructions:

Heat emboss Noteblock stamp in white opaque powder onto kraft cardstock, cut out and mat onto scalloped white cardstock. Dry emboss kraft cardstock with snowflake embossing folder and lightly brush raised surface with pigment ink. Adhere stamped panel to cardstock base. Embellish with twill ribbon, pom pom trim, snowflake and wood button. Mat card onto white scalloped die cut.

Unity FWF Friday!!

It's Unity Stamps Friends with Flair Friday and today I'm sharing a kraft and white creation I made using the sort of new Samantha Walker "Butterfly Garden" set.

This was a nice and quick card....not including drying time for the pigment ink, probably less than 5 minutes!! 

First I stamped the background in white pigment ink.  I used some of the smaller floral stamps from the set to fill in the blank spots.  Then I stamped the round image with Versafine and heat embossed it with white opaque powder.  To make the panel stand out from the card base I mounted it on a white scalloped die cut and then adhered to the card---easy peasy!!

It's party time!! Last of the MFT Teasers and the big release party details

Well my reign as guest designer for My Favorite Things is drawing to a close tonight and it's been a pleasure to share my creations with you this week. You will definitely be seeing lots more creations with this month's stamps that I haven't even had a chance to ink up yet, so keep checking in :)

For the last of my teasers I'd like to share with you a creation I made with the new Flopsey Flies a Kite set.  I had a brand new package of the Echo Park Summertime papers sitting in my "new stuff" pile and I thought that there's nothing like a nice summer day for kite flying :)  As I looked at the cover of the paper package I noticed there were lots of fun elements on the actual packaging that I could cut out and use on the card rather than cutting into a bunch of new sheets.  The sun, clouds, tree, flower strip and banner were all from the cover sheet!!

Today's Tip:  Don't forget to think outside the box when looking at your supplies.  The cover sheets for paper packages just might make a great card and then you don't have to cut into a whole sheet of the new package!!
