You are one cool chick!!

Unity Stamp's April Kit of the Month has some super cute images---so cute in fact that after only having this kit in my hot little hands for only TWO days I actually opened it and created some cards (I'm notorious for letting my kits sit in their original envelopes for a while before getting around to crafting with them).

Like many other Unity girls, I couldn't resist putting some of those chic glasses on one of my chicks.  I hand cut them using scissors and hid the cut mark with some stickles (too lazy to get out the exacto knife LOL!).

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

I'm nutty for Paper Smooches!

Hello and Happy Monday!

I received my first envelope of stampy goodness from Paper Smooches a few weeks back and couldn't wait to get them inky!!  If you haven't checked out Kim Hughes' new stamp company you really should----her stuff just oozes cute :)

For this card I used the Falling for You set.  I paper pieced the acorns and added some dimension to the image using my Copics.  I created a manly/woodsy look using some Cosmo Cricket "Wanted" papers and a Tim Holtz wood grain embossing folder for dimension.  In keeping with the outdoorsy look, I added a twine bow and popped the center acorn with dimensional adhesive.

This is another entry for last week's Simon Says Stamping challenge blog to use "embossing".  Once again I used my Cuttlebug and an embossing folder from Tim Holtz.

Supplies:
Stamps: Falling for you set from Paper Smooches
Ink: Memento Tuxedo black, Distress Ink
Paper: Cosmo Cricket Wanted
Accessories: Copic markers, SEI twine ribbon, Tim Holtz embossing folder
Card sketch:  CPS Sketch #214

Life's too short to match socks

As soon as I saw this stamp set from Unity Stamps, I knew it *had* to be mine.  I just totally love the saying and of course those cute socks don't hurt either.

The card is a 4" x 8" design that fits into standard business envelope for mailing--I buy mine at the dollar store in packages of 50 or more for a buck!!  I paper pieced the socks and used some Copics for shading.  The rest of the card is just simple layers on a Cuttlebug-embossed kraft background with the image panel "popped" using some foam dimensional adhesive.

For more wonderful customer creations, stop by the Unity blog today.  Leave comments along the way (including here) for your chance to win some stampy goodness :)

P.S.  I'm using this card for this week's Simon Says blog challenge to use embossing.

A little bit of Mojo, some texture and a whole lot of cute

Now that things have settled down on the home selling front, I finally got a chance to sit down and get some new cards done.  What better way to find your stamping mojo again than some new stuff and a few challenges?

Even though I haven't been stamping for the last little while, doesn't mean I took a break from buying ;)  I had this cute new birthday stamp (from Your Next Stamp) as well as some new 6 x 6 My Mind's Eye paper pads just waiting to be played with.

This week's challenge on the Your Next Stamp challenge blog was to use texture in your design.  So I dug out my Cuttlebug (literally had to DIG it out from the bottom of the closet that was packed for our home staging!!) and my embossing folders and got to work.  I also added texture by adhering some of the images with dimensional tape and added some 3D ribbon and twine.  For the sentiment I decided to try out some of the new SRM sentiment stickers I purchased.  I was able to tint the "girl" part of the sticker to match my design.

O.K, enough chatting....now onto my card.......

Supplies:Stamp:  Birthday Surprise Fhiona from Your Next Stamp
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers:  DCWV cardstock, My Mind's Eye patterned papers
Accessories:  SRM "Birthday Girl" sticker (coloured with Copics), Copic markers, twine, Offray ribbon, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Fiskars border punch, Spellbinders die

Card design based on Mojo Monday sketch number #187 (at least it started that way and took a slight other path LOL!

I'm also linking this up to Jenny's Suchin's Wee Memories challenge blog.  This week's theme (challenge #52) was cute and this card has cute written all over it.

And finally linking to Simon Say's embossing challenge.

April showers bring May flowers (Unity style).....

.......so what more perfect card to share with you today than this card?

I used some fun spring-y looking Sassafras paper scraps on this card and paper pieced the umbrella and sentiment cloud (both from the fabulous Unity Kit of the Month - March 2010).  I don't know about you but I would totally LOVE an umbrella like that.

P.S. Unity has changed their usual Friends with Flair process.  Be sure to stop by the Unity blog for more details.  Rumour has it if you leave a comment on all the posts shared on the Unity blog (including this one), you have a chance to win some prizes.  Plus what better way to brighten some one's day by leaving some love :)

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!!

I'll never let you go and a crafting update.....

So I know I've been a bit of a slacker in the crafting department lately, but I've been crazy busy.  We decided it was time to look for a new house so the last few months have been spend staging, cleaning and organizing---including downsizing my 10' x 10' craft room into ONE closet and an armoire.  The good news is our sold in less than 24 HOURS and a few days later we purchased a new home.  I can't wait to start fresh with a new (and bigger!!) craft space.  We have a few months until the move so hopefully I can squeeze in some new projects to share with you out of my downsized craft space.

In the mean time, here's a card I made a while back.  I love this "Hand in Hand" set from Gina K Designs.  I used some Pink Paislee papers and used red ink to stamp the label to coordinate with the red in the striped paper.  For a bit of interest, I embossed the background paper with a Cuttlebug folder.

Today's tip:  Embossing patterned paper is a great way to add some dimension to your card.  I typically use more simple patterns so you can see the embossing.

Supplies:
Stamps: Lovely Labels by Gina K, Hand in Hand by Gina K
Ink: Adirondack Red Pepper, Memento Tuxedo black
Papers: Pink Paislee, Gina K cardstock
Accessories: Martha Stewart Punch, button, Twill Ribbon, Cuttlebug embossing folder
