Your Next Stamp Fun Friday CAS Style

Hello and Happy Friday!  Time for another Your Next Stamp Fun Friday and this month's theme is "Anything Goes".  My goal this month is to create with stamps and dies that I haven't had a chance to use yet so today I have a card for you that I created using my brand spanking new Tree Trio die set and Full of Colour stamp set.  How cute are those acorns?

I printed my sentiment onto some kraft cardstock and created a little scene with the tree dies and acorn stamps.  A strip of ribbon, a bit of twine and voila!,  a nice quick and easy, clean and simple card for this busy time of year.

Be sure to stop on by the Your Next Stamp blog for some more wonderful creations from the design team AND if you haven't had a chance yet, scroll down one post to see this month's release blog hop.  You could win some great prizes!

Sending a little Christmas Cheer with on YNS Fun Friday!

Hello!   Time for another Your Next Stamp Fun Friday.  WOW, can you believe it's the last Friday of November already???  You may recall that this month's theme is "gifts or giving".  Pop on over to the YNS blog to see some more wonderful projects from the design team.

For my project today, I have created a gift card holder for the coffee lover in your life.  I took a pre-made gift card holder (you can get templates on line or cut on your digital cutter) and decorated it with a coffee sleeve from my favourite coffee establishment.  Then I used the ever-so-cute Ellie Loves Lattes image to finish of my design.

Here's a photo of the inside.  You could even cover the inside with stamps or paper.  I only had a Tim Horton's card in my wallet to demonstrate with, but you can't put a Starbucks cup wrap on the front and then give a card for Timmie's horrible coffee LOL!  And yes, I think I'm the only Canadian on the planet who HATES Tim Horton's coffee :)

As you can see I wrapped the whole cup sleeve around the gift card holder and cut open the one side.  I will probably put a little bit of Velcro on the corrugated part to keep it flat for my gift giving:

And a look at the back:

Supplies:Stamps:  Ellie loves Lattes from Your Next Stamp, Holiday Snowglobe set (red snowflakes) from Your Next Stamp
Papers:  Echo Park, Basic Grey, October Afternoon
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories:  Stickles, Copic Markers, button, The Twinery baker's twine, ruffled ribbon, Fiskars border punch, Starbucks cup warmer, SRM Sticker sentiment

A fall tag.....

Good morning!  It's the beginning of another new week and with the American Thanksgiving approaching I thought I'd share this fall/Thanksgiving tag that I created.  It would be perfect to slip over a bottle of wine or add to a package of homemade treats.

The design is quite simple.  I stamped the image, coloured and punched out before adhering to a scalloped circle.  I covered a plain mailing tag with some fall themed papers, inked the edges and added some lace, twine and an orange button.  A nice quick tag in case you want to add a touch of handmade to your Thanksgiving celebrations this week.  Thanks for stopping by!

Upcycling on Your Next Stamp Fun Friday

Welcome to another Your Next Stamp Fun Friday!  This month the design team is featuring “Gifts or Giving” projects.  Stop on over to the YNS Blog or the YNS forum at Splitcoaststampers to see more projects from the design team.

Today I have an “up cycled” Christmas gift package for you.  A while back I bought a few Tim Holtz embossing folders (yeah, I’m addicted—what can I say LOL!) and they came in a clear pillow box  type container (approximately 6" x 5").  I set the container aside (since it stored flat and didn’t take up much space) thinking I could reuse it somehow and this is what I came up with.   The container is big enough to hold a small gift or I was thinking of using it as a fancy wrap for a gift card.

First I stamped some snowflakes in red Staz On ink all over the entire package front and back. Then I created a little accent and tag for the front of the package.  I originally was going to create a wrap to go the entire way around but I wasn’t sure how much “stuffing” there would be for my gift so opted just to decorate the front.  I layered on a bunch of paper scrap strips and then added my stamped sentiment and frame and some pretty Christmas ribbon.  In case you’re wondering why the paper panel is off to one side, I was originally going to add a bigger embellishment on the one end but then ended up not liking it but had already glued on the paper ---- note to self:  do not glue until design is complete LOL!

Tip:   You need to be careful not to move the stamps too much when stamping with Staz On on a slick surface or they will slide and smudge.  Also after stamping be sure to let it dry a bit so you don’t wipe off the ink with your fingers like I did a bit.

Here's a close up of the back of the package that I stamped on.  I filled my "box" with some crinkled white paper for extra texture.  That will be fun for the recipient to clean up when they open their gift hee hee.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you liked my up cycled Christmas packaging.  I’ll have one more Christmas “gift” project to share with you in two weeks time
Stamps:  Snowflake border from Your Next Stamp (for stamping on acrylic box), Fancy Frame stamp set from Your Next Stamp (green frame), Holiday Postage Set from Your Next Stamp (sentiment)
Ink:  Staz On red, Adirondack Meadow (green)
Papers:  October Afternoon, Neenah white cardstock, Recollections Christmas collection
Accessories:  Wire edged Christmas ribbon from Michaels, Dienamics scalloped edge die, recycled clear pillow package

Ho Ho Ho Hello from the Sweet Season Santa!

Hello!  Today I'm sharing a Christmas card that I created for Scrap Scene's Christmas Card a Day blog feature.  For lots of holiday card inspiration, tips and tricks be sure to stop on over and check out all the cards from now until Christmas!  And if you happened to miss some, there is a link to see all the previous cards.

So, for you today I have created a cute Santa card with touch of Vintage.  I used my new Stacey Yacula Sweet Seasons stamps from Purple Onion Designs.  After colouring the image with my Copics, I applied some light brown ink around the edges with a sponge to give my Santa a vintage feel to go with the Basic Grey papers I chose.  For full instructions and product list, scroll down to the bottom of my post.

1.       Cut piece of dark red star patterned paper 4 ¼” x 5 ½”, ink edges and adhere to card base of same size.
2.      Cut piece of distressed red/green/beige patterned paper 4” x 5 ¼” and emboss with Christmas ornament embossing folder.  Ink edges and adhere to card base.
3.      Add strip of scalloped red star paper and strip of plaid patterned paper across card approximately 1” from bottom of card. Add strip of green ruffled ribbon across center of plaid paper.
4.      Stamp image onto white Copic friendly cardstock, colour with markers and cut out.  Accent bell part of image with glitter pen.  Age Santa image by applying light brown distress ink with sponge around the entire cut out image
5.      Cut rectangle of kraft cardstock and stamp sentiment all over in kraft coloured ink.  Trim to desired size and stamp sentiment in black ink onto bottom.  Adhere stamped Santa image to panel and adhere to card base.
6.      Embellish with wood button and twine bow

Stamps:  Stacey Yacula "Santa" from Purple Onion Designs, Sweet Season Sentiments from Purple Onion Designs
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Brown Distress Ink, Palette Noir black ink (for sentiment)
Papers:  The Paper Company kraft cardstock, Basic Grey patterned papers, Neenah cardstock
Accessories:  The Twinery Twine, ruffle ribbon, Fiskars border punch, wood button, Basic Grey embossing folder, Copic Markers

Hello!  Welcome to the Your Next Stamp November New Release Blog Hop!  We are so excited this month because we are introducing ANOTHER new illustrator to the YNS family ~ Macy Wong!  Her images are so super sweet and we know you are just going to love them!  We also have some adorable new Franfou images, and Mabel Designs.  To start the hop, head on over to Kerri’s Blog

Did someone say prizes???  We have 3 new release prizes hidden along the hop!  You must leave comments on all of the DT blogs to qualify for the prize drawing.  You have until Friday, November 9th at 12 midnight (EST) and the winners will be posted on the YNS Blog on Saturday, November 10th.

And now, onto my projects.  First up, I used the new Macy Wong "Skating Girl" image to create this traditional looking holiday card.  The ice skates part of the newspaper themed paper was just perfect with the image.  As you can tell from the last three cards I posted I'm totally loving last season's October Afternoon papers that I found in my paper hoard collection.

Stamps: Skating Girl from Your Next Stamp
Papers: October Afternoon, Neenah cardstock
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Devine Twine (Christmas), button, Making Memories tag, Copic Markers

Next we have a tag that I created using all the scraps on my desk.  It would be a perfect addition to a Christmas gift bag or even to hang over a bottle of wine.  I stamped the YNS Snowflake Border stamp in green ink all over the green striped paper.  Then, I stamped and cut out the cute Sing Song Robin image to place on the tag.  I added a little twine bow, button and tag to the present in the image.  You'll notice I used a "for her" tag because only a woman would appreciate a nice hand made tag hee hee.

Stamps:  Snowflake Border from Your Next Stamp, Sing Song Robin from Your Next Stamp
Ink:  Ranger Distress Ink, Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers:  October Afternoon, Recollections, Neenah cardstock
Accessories:  Ruffle ribbon, Devine Holiday Twine, button, Making Memories tag, Avery mailing tag, Copic Markers

YNS Stamp-free Fun Friday!

Good morning!  Time for another Your Next Stamp Fun Friday post.  This month's theme is all about gifts and giving.  Stop on over to the YNS blog to see more great design team creations.

My gift for today's post is a felt bookmark that I created using NO stamps, just some of YNS's wonderful layered die cuts. I used the new layered tag/bookmark and whimsy star dies and cut two of the largest ones of each out of craft felt (note that the dies cut really well with felt as long as you use a few shims).  I got really crafty and sewed around the outside of the inner bookmark and star die cuts with some embroidery floss.

I added a thin button to the middle of the star and made my "tails" for the bookmark using a piece of twill ribbon and tied it with some baker's twine.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I'll be back later this month with some more great gift ideas for YNS Fun Friday!

Accessories:  Craft felt, twill ribbon, button, embroidery thread, The Twinery baker's twine

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!! Today I have some quick and easy cupcake decorations to share with you. I used a Halloween sentiment but they would also be great if you were having a pirate themed birthday party.

I cut a cupcake wrap template out of some white cardstock (if you have a digital cutter it would speed up the process!!) and then stamped all over it with Purple Onion Design's "Skull Set" in black and orange inks.

To make the toppers I stamped the solid skull image in black ink onto some white cardstock, punched it out with a circle punch and matted onto some black and orange die cut shapes.  A sticker sentiment and some baker's twine and done!!

Stamps: Skull Set from Purple Onion Designs
Papers: Neenah white cardstock, My Mind's Eye, Bazzill cardstock
Ink: Ranger Distress Ink (Dried Marigold), Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: The Twinery twine, Spellbinder's dies, SRM Sticker

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.....

Well, I'm not quite ready for the white stuff to start falling just yet so for now let's settle for a winter themed card.  The theme this month for Your Next Stamp's Fun Friday is "Let it Snow".  Pop on over to the YNS blog to see some more design team inspiration for this chilly theme.

For my card today, I used the YNS Holiday Snow Globe Set. Did you know that all of the mini stamps from Your Next Stamp fit inside this globe? A great set to grab that you can use over and over!

To keep with the winter theme, I embossed my background with a snowflake themed embossing folder and then added some clear Stickles on top of the raised surface to add some sparkle.

Let's hope this is the only snow we see for a while! Thanks for stopping by!

Thankful Thursday

Good morning!  This past weekend we celebrated Thanksgiving in Canada so I thought I'd share a fall themed "Thankful" card that I created using some of my new fall stamps from Purple Onion Designs.

I kept the design fairly simple on this card and focused on using paper with rich fall colours.  To add a bit more texture to the card I embossed the orange patterned paper for my background and inked around the edges with some brown distress ink.  The doodle frame pumpkin image was coloured with my Copic markers and paper pieced onto some green gingham paper.  I finished off the card with some garden twine that I think adds to the fall look.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Stamps: Pumpkin framed doodle set (by Stephanie Ackerman) from Purple Onion Designs

And now onto my projects....first up is this sweet gingerbread creation.  To create the background for the card I stamped the gingerbread man image and heat embossed in clear WOW! Sending you Joyful Wishes (Your Next Stamp October release sneak!)

Good morning!!  Once again the month of September flew by and it's time to show off the October release stamps from Your Next Stamp.  This month brings TWO new artists to the YNS family as well as releases from some old favorites.  Be sure to stop by on Tuesday Oct 9 for the release blog hop where you can win some fabulous prizes.  And to see today's other sneak peeks from the design team, hop on over to the YNS blog.

For my card today I used the new Joyful Wishes set (designed by Heather Rolin).  Because of the traditional design of the stamps I went with a traditional "stampy" card.  This set is perfect for creating cards that are easily mass produced for all those on your Christmas card list.

To create this card I stamped the wreath image in green ink onto a white cardstock panel and then stamped the berries in red ink.  I added the sentiment to the bottom in black ink and matted onto a die cut dark green rectangle.  Some ribbon and an embossed background and voila, a simple yet elegant card in less than 10 minutes!

Stamps: Joyful Wishes set from Your Next Stamp (available October 9)
Ink:  Distress Inks - Evergreen Bough and Festive Berries, Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers:  KI Memories, Bazzill cardstock, Neenah cardstock
Accessories:  Offray Ribbon, button, Stickles, Sizzix embossing folder, Spellbinder's die

A few Itty Bitty cards

Hello Unity Friends.  Today I have a few little mini cards (that I shared on the Unity blog back in August) using some paper scraps and some Itty Bitty stamps.

If you're anything like me you probably have a huge pile of scrap paper lying around.  So in an effort to use up what was on my desk I created a few mini cards (approximately 4" x 4").  I think it would be great to use these as gift tags or tuck them in your loved ones lunch boxes. I definitely want to make some more of these quick and easy cards for my pile!

Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends!

Stamps: Hoot for Hope Itty Bitty from Unity Stamp Co.

Oh Baby!

Hello!  Lately, I've been on a kick of making cards with NO patterned paper.  For those of you who follow my blog, you will know this is definitely not my usual style....the more patterned paper the better for me!!  Even without patterned paper you can still add so much interest to your cards using different textures and embellishments.  I like the clean lines and simpleness (if that's a word) of just using cardstock.

Here's a baby card I recently made using the Framed Bear stamp set from Purple Onion Designs.  I coloured the image with my Copics and cut it out.  I embossed the textured blue cardstock with a large polka dot embossing folder and then added some lace and twine.  I used the "baby" sentiment like a tag under my twine bow.

So don't be afraid to step away from the patterned paper once in a while. You just never know if you'll find yourself discovering a new style of cardmaking!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Happy Thanksgiving on Your Next Stamp Friday

Hello and Happy Friday!  Today I have another fall themed card to share with you for YNS Fun Friday.  Hop on over to the YNS blog for more great projects from the design team.

For my card I used my favourite jam jar and filled it with some leaves and a pumpkin from the Autumn jar fillers set.  If you look closely at the edge of the jar, you can see that I covered the whole jar with Glossy Accents after I finished my stamping.  It takes a while to dry so make sure you complete your jar and let it dry overnight before adhering it to your card.  I added a little autumn fairy and some burlap twine to finish off my card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Fall Globe Accessories from Your Next Stamp, Seasonal Fairy set from Your Next Stamp,  Jam Jar Globe from Your Next Stamp
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Kaleidacolor ink (for leaves)

One Wicked Sweet Halloween card on YNS Fun Friday

Good morning! Time for another Your Next Stamp Fun Friday!  This month we are sharing fall and Halloween projects.  Your Next Stamp has a ton of amazing stamps for the season, you can check them all out here.  And don't forget to stop by the YNS blog today to see all the other great design team creations.

For my card today I used the "Wicked Sweet" stamp to create a Halloween card.  How cute is she with her purple hair and that skull balloon?  I created a few different layers on my card with some die cuts and then added the image to the left side with some dimensional tape.

This month we are also sharing organizational tips for our stamps and dies.  Well, those of you that know me in real life know that the word "organized" and Jen do not go in the same sentence LOL!  But I do like to keep my stamps organized using EZ Mount stamp and store sheets and then I put them in a binder on my shelf (photo to follow --- I forgot to upload it to my blog last night---sorry!)

Stamps: Wicked Sweet set from Your Next Stamp
Papers:  WRMK, Bazzill cardstock, Neenah cardstock
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories:  Copic markers, K and Co halloween die cut, Offray ribbon, button, Sizzix Tim Holtz bracket edge die, Stickles

I *heart* 2 read....Your Next Stamp release party blog hop!!

Hello and welcome to the Your Next Stamp September New Release Blog Hop!!!  We know you are just going to LOVE all the new stamps and dies and they are available NOW in the YNS Store!  The hop will run from today, until Monday, September 10th at midnight (EST).

What’s a hop without prizes?!  We have 3 New Release Prize Packages hidden throughout the hop, so make sure you leave comments for your chance to win!  Winners will be announced on the Your Next Stamp Blog on Tuesday, September 11th.

Today I'm sharing a bookmark I made using the new bookmark stamp and die set and pairing it up with Ellie Loves to Read from last month's release.  The new nesting bookmark dies are wonderful!  I cut the large one out of kraft paper and stamped all over it in kraft coloured ink to create my background.  I added Ellie to my bookmark by cutting her out and mounting her onto a scalloped die.  I added a triple bow out of baker's twine.  The twine lies flat enough that you could still close the pages on your book.

Karen is also offering some amazing Hop Specials! There are several Bundle Deals, PLUS you get 15% off your order (Sept. 6-10) by using online code Sept15OFF! Make sure you take advantage of these great deals!!!

Now it’s time to hop on over to Veronica’s blog, but before you go, don’t forget to leave me a comment for your chance to WIN! Happy Hopping!

Howdy friends! Time for Your Next Stamp Sneak Peeks

Howdy friends!  It's that time of month....time to start showing off some of this month's new release stamps from Your Next Stamps.  This month's release is SO awesome, I *had* to get almost all of the stamps for my collection hee hee.

Today I'm sharing a card I made using Nathan the cute cowboy.  As soon as I saw him I knew I'd be pulling out my beloved Cosmo Cricket Wanted paper.  If I had a time machine I would go back in time and hoard PILES of this stuff.  I was so glad when they bought out some 6 x 6 pads a while ago and I was able to grab a few.

I used a round scalloped card base for my design and added a few different papers.  I created my own sentiment out of letter stickers and added a wood button accent.

As you can see from this close up I cut the lasso out of the image and added some real twine by gluing under the hand:

Be sure to stop back on Thursday for the release blog hop and the full reveal of the sets.  Plus giddy on up over to the YNS blog today for some more fabulous peeks from the design team.
