Sending a little Christmas Cheer with on YNS Fun Friday!

Hello!   Time for another Your Next Stamp Fun Friday.  WOW, can you believe it's the last Friday of November already???  You may recall that this month's theme is "gifts or giving".  Pop on over to the YNS blog to see some more wonderful projects from the design team.

For my project today, I have created a gift card holder for the coffee lover in your life.  I took a pre-made gift card holder (you can get templates on line or cut on your digital cutter) and decorated it with a coffee sleeve from my favourite coffee establishment.  Then I used the ever-so-cute Ellie Loves Lattes image to finish of my design.

Here's a photo of the inside.  You could even cover the inside with stamps or paper.  I only had a Tim Horton's card in my wallet to demonstrate with, but you can't put a Starbucks cup wrap on the front and then give a card for Timmie's horrible coffee LOL!  And yes, I think I'm the only Canadian on the planet who HATES Tim Horton's coffee :)

As you can see I wrapped the whole cup sleeve around the gift card holder and cut open the one side.  I will probably put a little bit of Velcro on the corrugated part to keep it flat for my gift giving:

And a look at the back:

Supplies:Stamps:  Ellie loves Lattes from Your Next Stamp, Holiday Snowglobe set (red snowflakes) from Your Next Stamp
Papers:  Echo Park, Basic Grey, October Afternoon
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black

A fall tag.....

Good morning!  It's the beginning of another new week and with the American Thanksgiving approaching I thought I'd share this fall/Thanksgiving tag that I created.  It would be perfect to slip over a bottle of wine or add to a package of homemade treats.

The design is quite simple.  I stamped the image, coloured and punched out before adhering to a scalloped circle.  I covered a plain mailing tag with some fall themed papers, inked the edges and added some lace, twine and an orange button.  A nice quick tag in case you want to add a touch of handmade to your Thanksgiving celebrations this week.  Thanks for stopping by!

Ink:  Memento Tuxedo black, brown distress ink

Upcycling on Your Next Stamp Fun Friday

Welcome to another Your Next Stamp Fun Friday!  This month the design team is featuring “Gifts or Giving” projects.  Stop on over to the YNS Blog or the YNS forum at Splitcoaststampers to see more projects from the design team.

Today I have an “up cycled” Christmas gift package for you.  A while back I bought a few Tim Holtz embossing folders (yeah, I’m addicted—what can I say LOL!) and they came in a clear pillow box  type container (approximately 6" x 5").  I set the container aside (since it stored flat and didn’t take up much space) thinking I could reuse it somehow and this is what I came up with.   The container is big enough to hold a small gift or I was thinking of using it as a fancy wrap for a gift card.

First I stamped some snowflakes in red Staz On ink all over the entire package front and back. Then I created a little accent and tag for the front of the package.  I originally was going to create a wrap to go the entire way around but I wasn’t sure how much “stuffing” there would be for my gift so opted just to decorate the front.  I layered on a bunch of paper scrap strips and then added my stamped sentiment and frame and some pretty Christmas ribbon.  In case you’re wondering why the paper panel is off to one side, I was originally going to add a bigger embellishment on the one end but then ended up not liking it but had already glued on the paper ---- note to self:  do not glue until design is complete LOL!

Tip:   You need to be careful not to move the stamps too much when stamping with Staz On on a slick surface or they will slide and smudge.  Also after stamping be sure to let it dry a bit so you don’t wipe off the ink with your fingers like I did a bit.

Here's a close up of the back of the package that I stamped on.  I filled my "box" with some crinkled white paper for extra texture.  That will be fun for the recipient to clean up when they open their gift hee hee.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you liked my up cycled Christmas packaging.  I’ll have one more Christmas “gift” project to share with you in two weeks time
Stamps:  Snowflake border from Your Next Stamp (for stamping on acrylic box), Fancy Frame stamp set from Your Next Stamp (green frame), Holiday Postage Set from Your Next Stamp (sentiment)
Ink:  Staz On red, Adirondack Meadow (green)
Papers:  October Afternoon, Neenah white cardstock, Recollections Christmas collection
Accessories:  Wire edged Christmas ribbon from Michaels, Dienamics scalloped edge die, recycled clear pillow package

Ho Ho Ho Hello from the Sweet Season Santa!

Hello!  Today I'm sharing a Christmas card that I created for Scrap Scene's Christmas Card a Day blog feature.  For lots of holiday card inspiration, tips and tricks be sure to stop on over and check out all the cards from now until Christmas!  And if you happened to miss some, there is a link to see all the previous cards.

So, for you today I have created a cute Santa card with touch of Vintage.  I used my new Stacey Yacula Sweet Seasons stamps from Purple Onion Designs.  After colouring the image with my Copics, I applied some light brown ink around the edges with a sponge to give my Santa a vintage feel to go with the Basic Grey papers I chose.  For full instructions and product list, scroll down to the bottom of my post.

1.       Cut piece of dark red star patterned paper 4 ¼” x 5 ½”, ink edges and adhere to card base of same size.
2.      Cut piece of distressed red/green/beige patterned paper 4” x 5 ¼” and emboss with Christmas ornament embossing folder.  Ink edges and adhere to card base.
3.      Add strip of scalloped red star paper and strip of plaid patterned paper across card approximately 1” from bottom of card. Add strip of green ruffled ribbon across center of plaid paper.
4.      Stamp image onto white Copic friendly cardstock, colour with markers and cut out.  Accent bell part of image with glitter pen.  Age Santa image by applying light brown distress ink with sponge around the entire cut out image
5.      Cut rectangle of kraft cardstock and stamp sentiment all over in kraft coloured ink.  Trim to desired size and stamp sentiment in black ink onto bottom.  Adhere stamped Santa image to panel and adhere to card base.
6.      Embellish with wood button and twine bow

Stamps:  Stacey Yacula "Santa" from Purple Onion Designs, Sweet Season Sentiments from Purple Onion Designs
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Brown Distress Ink, Palette Noir black ink (for sentiment)

Your Next Stamp November New Release Blog Hop (PRIZES!!!)

Hello!  Welcome to the Your Next Stamp November New Release Blog Hop!  We are so excited this month because we are introducing ANOTHER new illustrator to the YNS family ~ Macy Wong!  Her images are so super sweet and we know you are just going to love them!  We also have some adorable new Franfou images, and Mabel Designs.  To start the hop, head on over to Kerri’s Blog

Did someone say prizes???  We have 3 new release prizes hidden along the hop!  You must leave comments on all of the DT blogs to qualify for the prize drawing.  You have until Friday, November 9th at 12 midnight (EST) and the winners will be posted on the YNS Blog on Saturday, November 10th.

And now, onto my projects.  First up, I used the new Macy Wong "Skating Girl" image to create this traditional looking holiday card.  The ice skates part of the newspaper themed paper was just perfect with the image.  As you can tell from the last three cards I posted I'm totally loving last season's October Afternoon papers that I found in my paper hoard collection.

Stamps: Skating Girl from Your Next Stamp
Papers: October Afternoon, Neenah cardstock
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Devine Twine (Christmas), button, Making Memories tag, Copic Markers

Next we have a tag that I created using all the scraps on my desk.  It would be a perfect addition to a Christmas gift bag or even to hang over a bottle of wine.  I stamped the YNS Snowflake Border stamp in green ink all over the green striped paper.  Then, I stamped and cut out the cute Sing Song Robin image to place on the tag.  I added a little twine bow, button and tag to the present in the image.  You'll notice I used a "for her" tag because only a woman would appreciate a nice hand made tag hee hee.

Stamps:  Snowflake Border from Your Next Stamp, Sing Song Robin from Your Next Stamp
Ink:  Ranger Distress Ink, Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers:  October Afternoon, Recollections, Neenah cardstock
Accessories:  Ruffle ribbon, Devine Holiday Twine, button, Making Memories tag, Avery mailing tag, Copic Markers

Karen is also offering a fabulous Hop Special ~ 15% off your entire purchase including sale items.  The code is YNSNOV2012.  She also has some great bundle deals and some awesome steals in the YNS Bargain Bin.

YNS Stamp-free Fun Friday!

Good morning!  Time for another Your Next Stamp Fun Friday post.  This month's theme is all about gifts and giving.  Stop on over to the YNS blog to see more great design team creations.

My gift for today's post is a felt bookmark that I created using NO stamps, just some of YNS's wonderful layered die cuts. I used the new layered tag/bookmark and whimsy star dies and cut two of the largest ones of each out of craft felt (note that the dies cut really well with felt as long as you use a few shims).  I got really crafty and sewed around the outside of the inner bookmark and star die cuts with some embroidery floss.

I added a thin button to the middle of the star and made my "tails" for the bookmark using a piece of twill ribbon and tied it with some baker's twine.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I'll be back later this month with some more great gift ideas for YNS Fun Friday!

Accessories:  Craft felt, twill ribbon, button, embroidery thread, The Twinery baker's twine
