Bzzzzzz'ing in with YNS Fun Friday

Hello and Hap-BEE Friday!  Before I get started I wanted to mention that Your Next Stamp has a Pinterest page.  Stop on by for lots of inspirational pins.

It's Your Next Stamp Fun Friday and today I'm sharing a card I made using the dress up Fhiona stamp and die set.  In case you haven't seen it you can make a number of different combinations of insects or butterflies with the set I'm showing you.  It's really fun to play with :)

For my tip today:  To create the illusion of wings on stamped images, outline with blue Copic marker and then cover with a layer of crystal Stickles (or glitter).  Then when you attach the body to the wings use some dimensional adhesive or pop dots to give depth to the image.  If you curl the wings a bit it will give the illusion of flying!

A bit of other news too....YNS has some exciting news to share on May 1st.  To celebrate, we're having a blog hop....hope to see you there!

Supplies:
Stamp and die set:  Dress up Fhiona stamp and die set from Your Next Stamp
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers: Basic Grey, Neenah cardstock
Accessories:  Baker's twine from The Twinery, Maya Road kraft doily die cut, button, Fiskars border punch, Making Memories rub ons, Copic markers, floral embossing folder

MFT Monday

Good morning!  Today I have another cracked glass card to share with you using the Inspired by Spring set from My Favorite Things. I created the script background by masking the flower image and then repeatedly stamping one of the sentiments from the set top of it to cover the whole image panel.  The full instructions for this card can be found at the end of the post.

Thanks for stopping by!

And here's a close up of the cracked glass image panel.  I love how shattered this one turned out.

Supplies:
Stamps: Inspired by Spring set from My Favorite Things
Ink: Adirondack Espresso, Memento Tuxedo black, Rubber Stampede chocolate brown ink (for distressing), Versamark (for embossing)
Papers: Basic Grey,
Accents:  Offray ribbon, Baker's Twine, Quickutz tag die, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Sizzix embossing folder

Instructions:
Stamp floral image in Espresso ink onto die cut oval, mask image and stamp with spring sentiments in black ink over masked image.  Color image with Copic markers, distress edges and heat emboss with 6 layers of UTEE using Versamark ink allowing layers to cool in between.  Cool, crack image and adhere to scalloped dark brown die cut.  Distress edges of polka dot paper and mat onto brown paper.  Add strip of distressed and embossed pink paper down center of card.  Adhere image and embellish with ribbon and tag stamped with sentiment.

Unity welcome home

Hello Unity friends!  It's been a while since I've played along for Friends with Flair Friday but I'm back to share a few cards I made with the March kit of the month.  I coloured the image with my Copics and then added some Flower Soft to the topiaries and on top of the door frame to add some texture.

A little close up of the Flower Soft.  I like how the Copic colouring underneath still shows through to add some more depth to the design.

My second card today is for the April Unity KOTM Sketch challenge. I love this banner stamp.  I just used up a bunch of scraps from the card above and added some twine and a wood button.  It's difficult to see but I added some pearl paint around the outside of the star.

Supplies (house card):
Stamps: "from head to soul" March 2012 Kit of the Month (image and sentiment) from Unity Stamp Co.
Papers: Pink Paislee, My Mind's Eye, Neenah cardstock
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, brown distress ink
Accessories:  Flower Soft, garden twine, wood button, Copic markers

Supplies (banner card):
Stamps: March 2012 Kit of the Month (banner and sentiment) from Unity Stamp Co.
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa
Papers: My Mind's Eye, Pink Paislee

Oh happy day and a giveaway!

Hello!  As promised, today I'm sharing a card I created with the new line of Stacey Yacula stamps from Purple Onion Designs.  This beauty is called "Sunny Blooms".

If you'd like to win your very own Sunny Blooms stamp, just leave a comment on this post by noon EST tomorrow (April 16th) and I'll draw a random winner and post it Monday evening.

I created the background for this card by stamping the kraft cardstock with the Swiss Dot backgrounder and heat embossing with some bright white WOW! embossing powder.  If you look closely you can also see that I "distressed" the edges of the card with some Versamark ink and then dipped them into some more powder and heat embossed again.  For the main image panel I stamped the image and sentiment in the white embossing powder and then coloured the image with some Copics.

Check out the other designers who are previewing the new stamps today (you just never know who has stamps to give away (hint hint!!):

MFT Monday: A spring cracked glass creation

Hello!  For MFT Monday this week, I'd love to share with you a vintage spring card that I created using the cracked glass technique.  For full instructions please scroll down to the bottom of the post.

I also have a bit of exciting news about this card below.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

A close up of the crackle.  As you can see I also added some dry embossing with a Cuttlebug folder for more texture.

And a big of exciting news.  You might remember a while back I mentioned I was working on a special project.  Well, I was asked to create a series of cracked glass cards for Stamper's Sampler magazine.  They used all six of my creations for a special article in this month's issue!! (April 2012 issue).  I'm super super thrilled to have my work shown in my first ever feature article.  I'll be sharing the rest of the cards with you on my blog over the next few weeks :)

Supplies:
Stamps:  Inspired by Spring set from My Favorite Things, Just My Type set (sentiment) from My Favorite Things
Ink:  Rubber Stampede Choclate Brown (for distressing), Adirondack Espresso, Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark (for embossing), Ranger Spun Sugar (pink background text)
Papers:  Basic Grey, Georgia Pacific cardstock
Accents:  Spellbinders die, brads, Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE), button, lace, Prima flower spray, Fiskars scalloped border punch, Copic Markers

Instructions:
All stamps from My Favorite Things.  Stamp spring cursive sentiments in pink distress ink and bird nest image in Espresso Ink onto white cardstock, colour image with markers, and distress edges.  Apply 6 layers of UTEE using heat gun and Versamark ink, crack image when cool and adhere to doily die cut (with distressed edges).  Dry emboss teal paper with dot embossing folder, distress edges, and mat onto dark brown paper and cardstock base.  Add strip of floral paper, image panel, lace bow and floral spray onto card base.  Stamp sentiment in black ink and adhere to card with two brads.  Add strip of scalloped teal paper to bottom and adhere to card base.
