I like to ride my bicycle.....

Hello!  Happy Friday!  What a busy week we had at Your Next Stamp with all the wonderful new April releases.  Be sure to check out the blog hop from my last post and all the goodies are now available in the YNS Store.

Today the design team is sharing some Spring-themed projects using the new releases.  I used the fabulous new bicycle die on this springy card.  I just kept on layering and layering and layering before sticking the bike die cut on my panel.  I figured this could be used for any occasion so I didn't add any sentiment.

Hop on over the YNS blog to see some more great creations from the design team!  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Some more Paper Smooches fun!

Good morning!  I have a few more Paper Smooches creations to share with you today.  It's nice to play with some of my new stamps and these cards also were made only out of my paper scraps.

First up is card using a set that was a "must have" for me since I'm a scientist in real life (well sort of ---  I used to work in the lab as a chemist but now I work in the office but still consider myself a scientist).  It's a bit hard to tell from the photo but I used some Glossy Accents on the beaker and the crazy scientist's glasses.

For the second card I used the same strip design I did on my last Paper Smooches card but this time I stamped the background with some large polka dots.  Then I tried something a little new and stamped my image and sentiment onto a fishtail banner.  I really like the look and I'll definitely try that again.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like today's creations :)

Owl be here

Good morning!  Here's another card I created from my scrap pile and my "to use" new stamps.  This cute owl is from Sweet'n Sassy Stamps.  I love the size of this cutie and it comes with a bunch of great sentiments.

I went to Michaels last week to grab some more of the Wilton doilies that I used on this card and *gasp* they don't have the same design anymore.  If I find some I'm definitely going to have to buy ALL of them and hoard them because I love them so much and the new pattern they have isn't as nice----booo!!

Anyhooooo......The design on this card is super simple.  I just used a scrap of kraft and white cardstock for my card base and then added a doily, a strip of scrap paper and a circle of scrap paper.  The owl was paper pieced (also with scraps) and then I added some light brown distress ink to the image and some of the papers for more dimension.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Palette Noir, brown distress ink

Birthday Girl....Unity style!

Hello Unity Friends!  It's been a while since I've posted something for Friends with Flair Friday but it's great to be back sharing a project using one of my newest Unity Stamps.

I coloured Maggie girl with my Copics and then masked her off before stamping over top with one of the She Art backgrounds.  I used the Copic colourless blender pen to add some texture to the clothes and hat.  I kept my card design simple and monochrome so I could highlight this fabulous stamp.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Stamps:  Maggie Girl - It's your Birthday from Unity Stamp Co., SHE script stamp from Unity Stamp Co

Happy Bark-day and a new strategy to tackle my scraps!

Good morning!!  I recently did a massive clean of my craft space, organized some of my stamps and tried to work on straightening out my out-of-control paper scrap catastrophe  pile.

No only did I realize I have so many stamps that I haven't inked up yet (such as this cute doggie image from Paper Smooches) but I also came up with a new strategy/idea to control my scrap paper situation.

I realized that when I'm working on a new project I typically have a pile of scrap paper that all coordinates sitting on part of my desk.  So I decided, why not make some card bases out of the scraps right after completing the project since all the matching stuff is already sitting there?  So I have been making card bases and then putting them into a pile to use at a later date.  Then when I have a few minutes all I have to do is grab one of the pre-made card bases, add my stamped image and embellishments and voila, a quick card!!  The pre-made card bases I've made so far are all pretty clean and simple but I think this new idea will keep my pile of scraps a bit better under control AND make it easier for me to whip up a card or two at each craft session.  It's a win-win for me!!

So here is clean and simple pre-made card base card #1.  You will see a few more cards with this general layout/design in upcoming posts as it's a great way to use that extra strip of paper that you get when you trim a 6" x 6" piece of paper to the standard card size.

Have a fairy wonderful Tasty Tuesday

Hello!  It's time for another Your Next Stamp Tasty Tuesday.  Hop on over to the YNS blog to see the inspiration photo as well as more creations from the design team.

This month the inspiration photo has one of my favourite colour combinations of all times:  brown, white and blue.  So of course I used that colour combination as my jumping off point for this card.  I sort of went with a vintage look by inking around the blue papers and adding some lace to the top of the jar.

I hope you'll come on back two weeks from today when I'll be using the inspiration photo again with a sneak of some of the new April are going to LOVE them!!

Stamps:  Jam Jar globe stamp from Your Next Stamp, Seasonal Fairies set from  Your Next Stamp, Mandi set (sentiment) from Your Next Stamp

A little Happy Mail for you

Hello!  I've been crafting up a storm the past week or so but I keep forgetting to blog my stuff -- sorry about that!

Whenever I want to just putter in my craft room and don't have any inspiration, I'll stamp out and colour some images and then put them in a pile to do something with at a later date.  I found a few "Welcome to the Neighbourhood" images from Purple Onion Designs that I coloured a while ago and decided to finally do something with them.

I went with an all-American red, white and blue theme for my card and used the "Happy Mail" postal frame and sentiment set to go with the cute post office image.  It's a bit time consuming to stamp with the red and blue (for the border) but the end result is worth it.  I used some small cats-eye chalk inks to apply the colour so it was easy to control using two different inks on one image.

Stay tuned for some more cards from my "later date" image pile and thanks for stopping by!!
